Mind, Money, & Medicine #4
Your Weekly Dose of Resilience, Smart Investing, and Cancer Care Clarity
Here’s this week’s Mind, Money & Medicine – where I’ll share my thoughts about resilience, smart investing, and cancer care.
Mind: Shifting from Fear to Focus
This week, I met a patient with metastatic lung cancer losing weight due to treatment.
She avoided eating enough because of the myth that "sugar feeds cancer." This fear-driven choice was making her condition worse.
We reframed her mindset:
Every calorie is fuel for her body to fight.
Progress, not perfection—one nutrient-dense snack at a time to stabilize her weight.
Practical Tip: When advice feels overwhelming, focus on one actionable step. Small wins create momentum for better decisions.
Money: Building Wealth Through Medical Consulting
Your expertise is more valuable than you think—it’s about leveraging it effectively.
What is a simple way to earn extra income? Medical consulting.
A recent session paid me $450 for 45 minutes—$10 per minute—just for sharing my expertise. No extra training needed, just packaging what I already know.
Opportunities are everywhere:
Advising pharma companies
Giving feedback on medical devices
Answering market research questions
The best part? It’s flexible. You control your time while creating a steady, high-value income stream.
Practical Tip: Start small. Sign up for platforms like Medscape or M3 Global Research and say yes to one opportunity this month. Build from there.
Medicine: Debunking Myths and Data
Facts build a foundation, but effective communication drives real understanding.
As an oncologist, I’ve seen myths create fear, leading to harmful decisions.
Take survival rates—many see them as fixed, ignoring new therapies and personalized treatments. Most rates are based on outdated studies and don’t reflect today’s advancements.
When patients grasp the full picture, despair turns to hope, leading to better decisions.
Practical Tip: Identify one health myth and explain it simply. Whether to a patient or online, clarity empowers change.
