Welcome Note

Welcome to Mind, Money & Medicine!

Today, we’re diving into three key topics: the power of gratitude, smart Bitcoin investing, and debunking the myth that biopsies spread cancer.

Let’s grow together—one insight at a time.

Mind: More Gratitude, Less Dying

Gratitude isn’t just a nice feeling—it’s a tool for resilience. One of my patients with metastatic cancer kept a simple gratitude journal. Despite her challenges, she said it helped her focus on what she could control, boosting her mood and energy.

A recent study published in JAMA Psychiatry in July 2024 examined the impact of gratitude on longevity. Researchers analyzed data from over 49,000 women, average age 79, enrolled in the Nurses’ Health Study. Participants who reported higher levels of gratitude had a 9% lower risk of dying over the following three years compared to those with lower gratitude levels. This association was observed across various causes of death, including cardiovascular disease.

Action step: Write down 3 things you’re grateful for each night. It’s a small habit that builds mental strength over time.

Money: Bitcoin To The Moon

Bitcoin has recently surged past $80,000, reaching new all-time highs.

While this growth is enticing, it’s crucial to approach cryptocurrency investments with caution.

Financial experts often recommend allocating only 5% to 10% of your investment portfolio to Bitcoin.  This strategy allows you to participate in potential gains while mitigating the risks associated with Bitcoin’s volatility.

Maintaining a diversified portfolio helps balance potential rewards with overall financial stability.

Action Step: Allocate 5-10% of your portfolio to Bitcoin, ensuring it fits within a balanced, long-term strategy.

Medicine: Early Detection Saves Lives

Worried that a biopsy might spread cancer?

It’s a common myth, but the truth is, biopsies are a critical, safe tool for diagnosis. Studies show they do not increase the risk of cancer spreading.

Always trust your medical team—they rely on biopsies to tailor the best treatment plan for you.

Final Thoughts

Gratitude builds resilience, even in tough times—start small with a daily journal.

Bitcoin’s surge is exciting, but stick to smart investing: 5-10% max of your portfolio.

And remember, biopsies don’t spread cancer; they’re key to getting the right diagnosis and treatment.

Small actions today lead to big impacts tomorrow. Let’s keep growing
